Dust Collector for Concrete Batching Plant and Cement Silo

Dust collection applications for concrete batching plants, cement silos, fly ash silos and bulk powder unloading.

Concrete batching plants generate dust at silo filling, weigh hoppers, mixers, conveyors and transfer points. A silo top collector addresses displaced air from bulk storage, while other sources may need separate local extraction and ducted filtration.

Silo Filling Duty

During pneumatic unloading, transport air must leave through the silo vent system. The collector should handle the maximum tanker airflow without allowing excessive vessel pressure. If several fill lines can operate together, simultaneous duty must be included.

A blocked collector, closed valve or overfilled silo can create abnormal pressure. High-level alarms and independent pressure protection should be maintained and tested, not treated as optional accessories.

Plant Layout and Maintenance

Place equipment where filter elements, valves and access covers can be serviced without removing handrails or standing on piping. Provide a safe platform, fall protection and lifting method suited to local rules.

Dust returned from pulse cleaning normally falls into the silo. For transfer-point collectors, hopper discharge devices must prevent re-entrainment and avoid allowing the hopper to fill into the filter section.

Operating Practices

Start the collector and confirm compressed air before filling. Observe differential pressure during unloading and investigate unusual rise, visible emissions or relief-valve activity. Keep delivery hose connections and silo seals in good condition.

Record filter changes and valve repairs. Trend data is more useful than waiting for a sudden dust release to indicate a problem.

Plant-Level Dust Review

A clean silo roof does not guarantee a clean batching plant. Mixer charging, aggregate transfer, weigh hoppers and truck loading can remain major dust sources. Map each release point before deciding that one silo collector solves the whole problem.

  • Separate silo venting from local extraction.
  • Check tanker operating practices.
  • Include housekeeping and leak inspection.
